Senior Partner
Brian came to work at his Father's firm, Peter Knipe & Co which was founded in 1968, after he qualified. He became the Senior Partner at Knipe Woodhouse-Smith following the merger and now specialises in residential conveyancing, estate planning including lasting powers of attorney, will writing and probate cases.
Partner
Peter is from Singapore. He qualified in England with a law degree from London University. His specialist areas are family law and arbitration dispute. He also undertakes general litigation work and heads our litigation department.

VAT is charged at 20% on our fees. Where a range is shown, the fee depends mainly on the value of the property and the complexity of the transaction. We will confirm your fee in writing before you instruct us, and it will not change unless the work changes — in which case we will tell you first.
Disbursements are costs payable to third parties which we pay on your behalf.

Leasehold fees are set by the landlord or managing agent, not by us. We will tell you what they are as soon as we receive the management pack.
Stamp Duty Land Tax depends on the purchase price and your circumstances. You can check the amount using HM Revenue & Customs' calculator.
A straightforward freehold transaction usually takes 4 to 10 weeks from instruction to completion. Leasehold transactions typically take 8 to 16 weeks, as we have to wait for the management pack from the landlord or managing agent. Long chains take longer, and we will keep you updated if timings change.
Conveyancing is handled by Brian Knipe, Senior Partner, supported by our conveyancing team. All work is supervised by a partner.
